East Building

Luxurious time spent surrounded by
the seaside pine grove and amid the nature of Sado.

Koshi-no-matsubara is a pine grove that have been planted in Mano Bay since the beginning of the Edo period. The precious landscape has remained there for over 300 years. The East Building was built to coexist with these historic pine trees and the sea, and to be a place where you can feel the beauty of nature. We look forward to welcoming you to the East Building, which has Western-style guest rooms and a French restaurant.

A quiet approach leading to a room. When you open the door, you will see the blue sky of Sado beyond the calmly colored furniture and windows. The sunlight glints off the pine trees. Open the window and you are welcomed by the sea breeze from Mano Bay stretching out before you. At night, the quiet echoes of the ebb and flow of the waves will bring you deep relaxation.

    French on the shore

La plage means seashore in French. In the past, the place where the East Building stands now surrounded by the pine trees was a seashore directly connected to the sea. Enjoy your meal at the place closest to the sea.

Pine trees and the sea. Wind and light. A place was created in symbiosis with the nature of Sado Island to be proud of. The plastering that shows the craftsmanship of the artisans, the furniture made from Sado’s atebi trees, and the sequence and transition of spaces that draws you deeper into the building, give you a sense of the traditional atmosphere. The sunset from the Hill of Artisans along the seashore is a spectacular viewpoint unique to Urashima.

The magnificent and serene view of Mano Bay from the room is like a beautiful painting. The shiny glass block walls bring a fresh and comfortable atmosphere. The interior design of steel, glass, and carefully selected furniture, which evokes the urban lifestyle, creates a new resort atmosphere on Sado Island.

The current South Building is the second generation since Urashima’s establishment. The appearance of the building, which is made of steel and glass, typical materials of today, is a perfect blend of modern art and Mano Bay on Sado Island. Sunlight pours in through the glass, and at night the room is filled with light from within. The steel is used to enrich the generous space with careful attention to detail and sensitivity.
